Our first images from an Electron Microprobe of the new Brazilian meteorite - SOCORRO - classified as a Shergotito, from MARS !!!
Its basic composition is clinopyroxene and maskelinite, a glass fused from plagioclase minerals, due to shock events that eject fragments from the Martian surface. It is also composed of minerals such as apatite, titanomagnetite and ilmenite, the latter two being the brightest phases in the images.
